Active 7.5 month old wakes up through the night

Hi there.

Our LO is almost eight months old. He is a livewire and everything's going well.

However, he is waking up every two/three hours in the night and it's really starting to take its toll on my partner, who goes back to work in six weeks.

He is exclusively breast fed and we have started him on puréed food over the past month or so, which he takes well enough.

My partner going back to work is a worry. She can't be waking up for half hour feeds continuously through the night, as her job is also very demanding.

I try and do my bit. I try and put him back to sleep when he wakes up the first time. But he's developed bad habits; being rocked and hummed to sleep and can't self settle. He is also crazily excitable! If we put him in his cot awake and leave him, he stands up and grabs the bars and calls for us. He also bashes his teeth and head on the bars if he loses his footing, slips, etc.

His naps are OK. One hour in the morning, 45 minutes at lunchtime and sometimes a 20/30 mins nap in the afternoon. We put him down around 19:30. He wakes up properly around 6:30.

We'd love to be able to reduce his feeds and have him sleep even five hours at a time. It'll be great for my partner's welfare.

Please, any tips or hints or links or advice would be very welcome.

Thank you!

Also, we've tried to introduce sleep associations for him.

He sleeps with a small bunny teddy, we have white noise on through the night and for naps. He gets tired as soon as he's put into his Grobag.
