16 week old and daytime naps

Hi,

DD2 is 16 weeks old. She generally sleeps well at night. Down by 7.30 - 2 wake ups in the night - feed (BF) and back to sleep. Up at 7am ish.

Daytime naps are a problem. DD1 is nearly 4 so I wondered if noise was the issue but not sure that's it. DD2 seems to be a really light sleeper and 'startles' awake a lot in the first 10 mins of a nap. She goes to sleep relatively easily but can't manage any longer than 20-30 mins at a time. She then gets progressively grumpier as the day goes on. I put her down every 1.5-2 hours at the moment but just don't know how to get her to nap for longer. I've been putting her down upstairs in her crib away from her sister to see if the noise is an issue but same problems even doing that. It's like she just can't get beyond that 30 min mark in the day. Can anyone help? Thanks

There are loads of threads on here about this, it's normal for that age, a sleep cycle is roughly that long so that's why they wake. DD is 15 weeks and has been like this since she was around 4 weeks old, she only sleeps longer if there is constant motion like in the pram/car/Baby Bjorn. I'm not convinced there is anything we can do about it really as it's normal.

I agree with previous post but what did spring to mind was to maybe try a bit of white noise - that helps my 19 week old go to and stay asleep. She doesn’t sleep long when put down but in my arms sleeps longer.
