I thought school makes them tired

Since DS started Reception he's gone from sleeping 10 hours a night to 9.5. I know it's only 30 minutes but he's now pre-6am which makes a difference psychologically.

I thought school was supposed to make them tired!

My daughter has just started reception this month and she's shattered every evening but her sleep is really disturbed and she's up super early too. I am hoping it's a phase like when they learn to crawl or walk and their brains are busy processing all the new stuff. (Please parents of older kids tell me it's a phase!)

My reception starter is still bouncing off the walls at 8.30pm and needs to be woken at 7am which is when we need to leave for breakfast club.Hmm

Hoping the clock change sorts it out.

My son has just started too and he is currently going to bed at 8 and waking at about 5.30, I’m getting annoyed because it seems he is actually tired and grumpy and he’s waking my 2yo (not on purpose of course but still annoying!) a lot. He used to be 7.30/8pm til 6.30/7am. I hope he settles into a better sleep routine as the term goes on.

The processing a new thing makes sense. Silly me for looking forward to the extra sleep.

My ds has also just started reception. Was always awake early and school has not changed that. However he is is waking a lot during the night and wants someone with him. Now getting less sleep 😴
