Moses basket recommendations

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Im due in January and looking to buy a Moses basket or similar for our bedroom, for the first 6 months. I don't want a cosleeper and want to be able to easily bring it downstairs during the day if possible.

I have a budget maximum of £200. Any suggestions?

Id avoid it. They are usually outgrown by 10 weeks. Put the usual cot in your room. Get a tiny love 3 in 1 napper for the downstairs.

Get whatever one someone is selling secondhand at an NCT sale.

Honestly they are all much of a muchness. It's a basket. If you have a large baby they might not even fit in it for long. If you plan to move it around a lot then maybe consider getting two stands as they're more annoying to move.

Honestly I would not spend much because they grow out of them in a few months! Mine was very handy because DS could fall asleep in it downstairs and then we could use the carry handles to carry him up with us so I found it invaluable but we got given it second hand.

We had one for down stairs but she was too big for it by 10 weeks. So we got a co sleeper for the bedroom but don't actually co sleep we keep the side up. You can get quite reasonable cribs too. Alternatively if your room is big enough you could use the cot that they would go into at 6 months.

I'd avoid it. If you buy a prom with a cart cot that is suitable for overnight sleeping. Like the uppababy. That would kill 2 birds.
I know you don't want a co-sleeper but they are amazing.

Jesus. Typos
Buy a pram with a carry cot

If I got a crib (or a cosleeper that we didn't put the side down on) instead of a Moses basket, what could they nap in while we're downstairs?

I assume a bouncer chair is unsuitable? If a crib is going to last me longer than a Moses basket, I'd rather that.

The cot would be a wee bit too big to have in our room.

Have a look at the Tiny Love 3 in 1 Napper for downstairs.

Agree that they are a bit of a waste of money. We had one but only because our bedroom was too small to fit an actual cot, if you can squeeze it in then I’d go straight to the actual cot upstairs, or a co-sleeper if you want (personally not my thing) and if your pram has a carrycot then use that for daytime naps. Mine did also nap in her bouncer, I think this is considered ok for short naps and providing you supervise... who knows though advice is always changing but I loved the bouncer for getting baby to sleep!

Sleepyhead?

I loved our's, she stayed in it until four months. It was so useful when she was tiny to carry her round the house in, she could sleep downstairs in it for naps and at night I had it right by my bed almost like a bedside crib.

We took it with us when we went away too.

I wouldn't spend much either though as it is just a basket. I did actually buy a different mattress for my pfb because the old one seemed hard!

We were given a Moses basket but DS hated it so we ended up buying a next to me cot which he only used for three months until we just put him in his big cot in our room. He would nap downstairs on a poddle pod, just made sure I was always in the room when he napped.
If you get a Moses basket just get a second hand one and buy a new mattress as they are in them for such a short time.
