Take baby out for a full day or stay home to nail naps after a bad night

What do you do?

DS woke every hour last night. No idea why. I had planned to chuck him in the car this morn to go out for the day. Its 50min trip minimum each way so he'd be pretty much guarenteed that each way. But I wonder if its best to camp out and let him get his usual 1.30hour nap this morn to catch up?? Albeit then not go.

What do others do?

Yest I put him in the car and he slept 10min on the eay to baby group then for 1.5hours in the pram until til 2pm but stayed awake til bedtime....maybe its going out causing overtiredness???

Just go, don't change your plans for naps!

StealthPolarBear · 04/09/2018 07:43

I assume you are shattered too.

TheGhostOfYou · 04/09/2018 07:46

I would go, only been DD2 is a crap napper so there's no guarantee she'd catch up.

Jellybabie3 · 04/09/2018 07:47

Yeah i am tired. Albeit i have been for 11months....he wakes 3x on a good night

I'd probably not go, assuming you're not letting anyone down. An unnecessary 50minute drive when you've barely slept.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 04/09/2018 08:50

I'd go. I wouldn't let a bad night spoil a good day. I always felt worse hanging around at home exhausted.

GrumpySausage · 04/09/2018 08:54

Go! I found staying in the house would only make me and baby crankier. Fresh air will be good for him!

Bluebelltulip · 04/09/2018 08:57

After a particularly bad night I would prioritise naps to 'reset' but would still go out at some point but not so far.

Lazypuppy · 04/09/2018 09:21

I'd go

BertrandRussell · 04/09/2018 09:24

Go if you want to. Use the bad night as an excuse if you don't.

villainousbroodmare · 04/09/2018 09:25

I probably wouldn't go if I didn't have to, as I'm finding that out and about naps seem not to be as restful as home naps. It's the evening of cranky wailing I'd dread! But then I have twins and they are only 3mo so much less mature than your fellow.

StealthPolarBear · 04/09/2018 09:27

Would no one else be bothered about the driving on very little sleep? Sometimes it has to be done, I realise. But wren it's not essential surely you don't do it.

Jellybabie3 · 04/09/2018 10:24

Well I've stayed home for his first nap as he seems a little snotty. Hes also woke after 30min and needed resettling so somethings up. We will go out when he wakes and then do the longer journey tomorrow.

How do people fit things in between two naps? With lunch we can barely get to aldi!

Thanks for your input all. I literally can't stay home all day...I would go nuts...

I just get on with it and he naps in the car if he needs to

Or, like yesterday, doesn't really nap at all. Which did make bedtime easier.

ApolloandDaphne · 04/09/2018 10:34

I just let mine nap on the go (car or pram) when we were out and about. If you have a second they just have to go where you are going and sleep wherever. I found that it meant my DC would sleep anywhere through anything.

Jellybabie3 · 04/09/2018 10:35

Haha. I guesd my gut tells me somethings not right as he isnt always that bad (cough)....but If there's no difference tonight then I wont bother again 😂 I only have 4 weeks of mat leave left so theres things I wanna cram in for him....the childminder can sweat over it after that while I weep at work

DD is also 11 months- I don’t have a nap routine for her, I’ll just encourage her to have a doze if she seems tired at any point throughout the day.

If I have stuff to do, I have stuff to do- if that means she sleeps in the car or the pram while I do those things that’s ok- she’s still getting her sleep.
