Toddler refuses to have any kind of blanket over him on bed

Any advice? My two and a half year old absolutely refuses a blanket. Of any kind..fleece,quilt,cotton.. anything. He just kicks them off. He cuddles a muslin at night and says that keeps him warm although obviously it doesn't! If I put one on him when he's asleep he wakes up. In the morning he feels freezing with cold feet. Anyone else had this problem? Doubt it but worth a try Smile

Yep. We just used a onesie with feet.

I had this problem with DD (ASD and some sensory issues).

I bought some lovely sleep suits with inbuilt feet (flannel for winter and cotton for spring and autumn). You can find them in quite large sizes too; I think she last wore a 5-6y size

DS2 was like this. We just used a fleece onesie with feet. At 2 we moved him into bunks with DS1 and he suddenly accepted a duvet! They're strange beings, toddlers.

It's totally normal, if bloody annoying.
We had some fleece all in ones from mothercare I think?
Ones without feet.
Then the slumbersac sleeping bags without feet.
But probably only up to about 3-3.5.

He's 4 yrs 3 months now and just about keeps his quilt on for some of the time, some nights.

leave him to it, he will put one on eventually. one of my children must never lose face in things like this so i let her come round to it like it is her idea.

Oh, and socks. He likes to sleep in socks.

We use padded sleepsuits with feet for our youngest, similar to this one:

I’ve seen similar walk in sleepsuits at Mothercare too. They’re thicker and warmer than normal sleepsuits, more like a gro-bag with legs.

Thanks all he's NT but does have issues about the feel of certain fabrics and textures. I have also put him in onesies and socks etc but wondered if I should let him feel the cold so he wants a blanket? That sounds so mean! It's just last winter it was just nuts the amount of layers he ended up wearing just so he could avoid a blanket! Glad to hear some kids came round to the idea of a duvet eventually!

My son is 3, and has never yet slept under a quilt or cover, apart from 4 nights when we went away and he slept in a massive bed. He is still in his cot bed but will be in a bed by winter so hoping he'll have a quilt then. His first 2 winters he wire grobags. Last winter he had thick pjs, (primark) and then fleece onesie with thin pjs under, and socks. He was warm enough.
