Sleep training

Hey all, some advise please... I've decided to try to sleep train my son (just over 5 months). It is madness to do this when he has started teething? There is one poking through at the bottom on the right? How long does the teething usually last for?

Teething and sickness means all bets are off. Try it when he's in a normal mood. I did it at six months )controlled crying) and haven't looked back. Others will be along shortly to say you're torturing your child and they will be traumatised. So far now signs of this two years on. He naps and sleeps like a dream.
Good luck, it's horrific but worth it IMO xx

I would wait until the tooth is through too... at times like this it all goes out of the window anyway.

Thanks both. I don't know if I have the balls for CIO.. was going to try the gradual retreat method.
Just out of interest, how long did the CIO take to work?

We did controlled crying so going in every 3-5 mins then stretching it out. I tried gradual retreat and it just made things worse!
It took 2 days for naps and it helped with sleep overall for us all. I appreciate it's harder for those with kids already but looking back I'd do it again as the result has been well worth it.

What you're asking is it it ok to let your baby cry and for you not to attend to him, even if he's in pain with teething. Well that's entirely up to you. This is worth a read though:-
