14 week old terrible sleeper

I am at my whits end with DS. He is the most unsettled Baby and terrible sleeper I have ever known.
Bit of back ground info, I have a 15 month old girl and my son who is a little over 3 months. I work, my DP works and the babies go to child care twice a week. Little girl is very well behaved, full on but a good girl (sleeps through, is ahead of milestones etc) she was a hard baby with her colic and reflux but seemed to get a little better at around the 12 week mark. My DS on the other hand is a nightmare and everyone knows it, he screams all day and all night. The most amount of sleep he manages at night is 3 hours usually about 7pm to 10pm. I have tried swaddling, white noise etc. Even if I pick him up he will scream and scream. It's not just crying it's screaming and a full on melt down. He doesn't sleep in the car or even his pram. He is using infant gaviscon for reflux it does help a bit but it's not a miracle, but because he's gaining weight he's not a medical concern. I just don't know what to do with him I can't even leave him to self soothe as I'm worried he will get a hernia from his screaming. Literally at my whits end

So sorry you're having such a terrible time 😞 I know gaviscon can cause constipation - does he poo regularly and normally? The reflux definitely can cause the baby to wake and prevent a really deep sleep so you could return to the doctor and ask for another medication as the gaviscon isn't helping as well as you want- they can prescribe Renitedine (I don't know how it's actually spelt but that's how it sounds to say) which I found worked a lot better and doesnt give the tummy problems hat gaviscon does

Thanks for your reply @Whiskeyjar he poos ok on gaviscon to be honest it just makes his poo quite solid. He's just so unsettled I don't know what to do anymore. Like I say doctors are not really interested because he's gaining weight 😖

Could be wind? Milk allergy? You'll have to really push at the doctors to get something done. Poor you and baby Flowers

It he could be uncomfortable if his poo is really hard- he only has milk so it should be very soft. You could try giving cooled boiled water to soften things up and it might help him or even mention to the doctor and see what they say. If DS has silent reflux then it could be hurting him to lie down or stay lying down and you might not know because they aren't always sick. My DS had both sicky reflux and silent so it can be really difficult. Other things you could try -
Anti colic bottles
Baby massage

Also if you and your partner/husband or a family member or friend could make sure you swap over regularly when comforting the baby as if you are dealing with a screaming infant for long periods then your stress levels jump up and this actually makes the baby more unsettled- they pick up on it and it can make them worse. I found getting away out the room away from the crying allowed me to calm down.
Sorry if my suggestions are a bit shit and all over the place lol!
