So confused, have I done something wrong

My 4 week old baby boy sleeps fine really. He doesn’t fuss that much during the night. He’s doing his feeding every 3 hours (I consider myself lucky) anyway the last two mornings he’s had his feeds around 3-4am he normally goes back to sleep then until his next feed.

Well he is sleeping but my word he makes such a racket. He seems so upset and restless. He doesn’t care for you trying to comfort him he just wakes up screaming if you do. I end up feeding him but again he just seems like he’s not really getting any rest. He looks sleepy and he’s not crying.

Am I not feeding him correctly or am I not feeding him enough? He doesn’t take all the milk in the bottle. Yet he’s sick. He’s not sick during the night. Sorry FTM worrying

He’s such a peaceful baby until that time of the morning.

Sounds like he's doing really well :)

When you say he is restless and making a racket, what is he doing? And what kind of noise? My first thought is wind as they tend to build up quite a bit overnight. If he is bringing his legs up he could be trying to fart and may need a bit of help (bicycle legs, knees to chest, etc.)

If I’m honest I’m not quite sure what he’s doing he isn’t crying but he isn’t not crying I guess moaning and thrashing about. He does have bad wind and he strains because of it. However he isn’t awake. It does eventually wake him up but this goes on for over an hour.

I do all the little exercises before feeding as well as the infacol. It doesn’t seem to make a difference. The only time he seems relieved is when he has a bath.

I’m probably picking at straws he’s a good baby and the wind must be so uncomfortable for him.

Sounds very similar to my DS who is finally growing our of it at 16 weeks. He would thrash his legs and make a squeaky straining noise all while asleep. I found a hand on his tummy, keeping his arms still would help a little. To be honest I used to spend ages cycling his legs, tummy massage, etc. in the middle of the night but it has just improved as he's got older. It seems to be quite common that the first chunk of nighttime sleep is a deep settled one, followed by shorter more fidgety sleeps afterwards. Or so I can glean from much searching myself early on!

You could try Colief which is meant to be good for digestive wind. It's expensive though compared to infacol.
