Wake time for 6 month old?

Hello!

Up until now we've always followed the "awake for no longer than 2 hours" rule for DS and then put him to nap, its always worked well.

He wakes at 6.30, naps at 8.30 then he tends to have 3-4 hours nap time throughout the day, then he gets 12 hours at night 6.30-6.30. So all in all 15-16 hours out of 24.

Now he's a bit older I suspect he may need more awake time, can anyone explain how we increase his wake time, or how you did it?

If it works is there any need to change it? Sounds brilliant!

I expect he will let you know when he needs more awake time, as what works now no longer will.

I would kill to have your child Sad

Mine won’t sleep till 11pm and he’s awake by 3am, then naps on and off till 8am. Daytime naps are probably 2x30mins and if I put him down he wakes up. I can’t get anything done because I’m constantly exhausted and never have any free time when the baby isn’t awake. Don’t mess with your amazing sleep schedule - my life is literally a waking nightmare complete with sleep deprived hallucinations and angry outbursts.

Sounds good for 6 month old. Mine has only just started increasing awake times at 9 months.

If it ain't broke don't fix it! At 6 months DS was sleeping 9pm - 7am with 1-2 night feeds. His napping was awful, he regularly had about 6 hours consecutive awake time. In your position I don't think I'd risk upsetting a great routine.

Thanks everyone.

I only asked because he seems like he sleeps a lot! I don't want him to be missing out, or for me to be forcing more sleep than he needs, but saying that he always drifts off so I suppose he's ok! I think we've been let of lightly with a good sleeper so far.
