I know I shouldn't moan cos my LO is very good really, but..................

He always used to sleep until at least 6.30 am, if not 7, but is now waking at around 5.30am, wide awake, not starving hungry but just ready to start his day. I try to ignore him for a bit - he's generally 'chatting' in his cot, not crying, but after about half an hour this escalates and I have to get him up.

I've tried blacking him room out more, feeding him immediately when he wakes and trying to settle him back, and not letting him sleep too much in the day ( usually about 2 1/2 hrs daily over 3 naps) but he's having none of it!!

He's 6 1/2 months now, and has slept through since 31/2 months. He's been on solids for 2 weeks, around the time the problem started.

Any ideas anyone????

Well, we've had 2 good nights now are are (tentatively) hoping we may have cracked it...............

Making his bed time later seems to have had the biggest effect. We've pushed it back from around 6.45 pm to about 7.30 or even a bit later, giving him a slightly longer afternoon nap so he can make it through. His room is now really dark too, which helps, but on Tuesday morning he went through 'til 6.20 am and this morning had to be woken at 7 so we weren't late for the childminder!!!!

We're really hoping it lasts, as this is MUCH better that 5.30!!!!!

Do remember that you need to push the morning nap forward as they age (using GF method) or they will start waking earlier. - We had this and by shifting the morning nap times we fixed it.

Yes, this has happened fairly naturally - we find we've shifted his whole day forward, including feeds too.

We don't follow Gina to the letter, but I think now we have a routine more appropriate for his age, and I think before he was just telling me he really doesn't need that much sleep these days!!
