Hi there,

My DD will be 11 months old next week and over the past few days she has started not napping at all.

She always napped from 10/half 10 - 11:30 and then at 2-4. She is not getting tired any earlier in the evening and waking up her usual time in the morning. I really don’t know how she is going 8:30-7:30/8 without napping Hmm

Also I’m struggling it’s a very long day to entertain a baby without a break.

Please tell me this is just the sleep regresssion phase?

I was just about to post something similar! Mine was doing 10-1045 and then 2-4 for a while and then 2 weeks ago decided to wake up nearly every sleep cycle. It’s driving me mad! And he’s so tired the poor thing. Now that he’s overtired from 2 weeks of little sleep he’s started waking up at 530 when he used to do 730-630.
Sigh. I have No idea wots going on but wondered if I needed to change nap times or just accept regression?

Sorry that should of read how does she go from 7:30/8:00 - 8:30 at night without no nap!

This totally happened to my twins. Then about 14 months they started having 2-3 hours straight after lunch every day. They’re almost 23 months and still have a nap after lunch almost everyday although can be 1-3 hours.

We brought bed time forward (think it was 6pm or maybe even 5:30, can’t remember now).

CookieDough2017 · 13/08/2018 16:07

SinkGirl how did you cope? I feel so guilty for wanting a bit of time to myself (even though I spend it doing chores). It's also very boring entertaining a baby for that amount of time without a break! I'm going insane!

Some naturally drop their naps early. Just go with her. If she needed a nap she would settle for one but trying to force it won't work.

Tryingno1 · 13/08/2018 16:24

Cookie I feel the same. By time I sit down tidy up the high chair mess he’s awake! And then come evening he’s such a crank. And in the morning we are all cranky coz it’s before 6am. Have u tried putting her in the car to force some sort of nap!

SinkGirl · 13/08/2018 19:08

Err, badly. It’s so hard when they refuse to nap (or, what really drives me mad, when one naps and the other refuses).

EyeDrops · 13/08/2018 19:38

I hate to say it, but some babies just don't nap as much...! Mine was down to one 1hr or so nap by a year old (though some days without), and by 18 months had dropped a daytime nap unless it was in the car. She just doesn't need it. I'm very jealous of friends whose now 3yr olds still nap!!

I wouldn't try and force it if she's content. But remember you don't need to entertain her all the time! Things like jumperoos, sensory baskets, mirrors, books, whatever... crack on with what you need to do (even if that's sit with a cuppa for a while!) and try to encourage some independent play. It's the only way to stay sane!

Also, get out of the house as much as possible - it really breaks the boredom. Then you've always got the chance she'll fall asleep in the car/pushchair in which case take advantage and read a magazine or something for a while!
