Does anyone else feel worse after a good nights sleep?

Ds is 12 weeks old and still wakes frequently at night. He always starts his sleep with a long one about 6 or 7 hours, but seems incapable of going for longer than 3 after that (and that is if I am lucky). Anyway the other day he settled late as I had taken him to a friends house so he slept from 10pm until about 5am. I had therefore had the longest sleep that I had had for about 8 months (I am not a good pregnancy sleeper) Anyway I felt rubbish all day and had to have a doze whilst cbeebies was keeping dd amused.

Yes! I know exactly what you mean. Your ds sounds just like mine (same age). I feel knackered when he's had a great night and OK when I've had 4 hours. Weird isn't it?

My ds was a very poor sleeper and if I got a full night of sleep I was as rough as a bear the next day, so I would answer "Yes!"

Definitely. I had 5 hrs sleep in a row last night for only about the 5th time since my LO was born and I feel absolutely knackered (you don't want to know how old mine is, it would only depress you! Although he never went that long at 12 weeks so hopefully yours is gearing up to be a good sleeper)

Same here. If I am used to a broken nights sleep, when I have a full nights sleep I feel knackered. I can't explain it!

I think it's a change in routine that kills you.

Broken nights every night are easier to cope with than broken nights interspersed with long sleeps.

But when you get a run of long sleeps (when they learn to sleep through) then start getting broken nights again (teeth) it feels like the end of the world.

Sleep deprivation in the short term is an effective antidepressant, btw. Used to be used as a diagnostic test.
