Audio stories

Morning all!
I am looking for relaxing bedtime stories for my little one to listen to. Obviously I read to him as well but sometimes at silly o clock in the morning I haven’t got the energy! The ones I’ve found online have annoying accents or are far too jolly and noisy. Can anyone recommend a site or free app please? I don’t fancy signing up for a free trial as I will probably forget to cancel it!
Thank you!

Nothing wrong with audio books! How old is she!

Or him (I'm really not paying attention this morning)

Smellybears · 02/08/2018 09:57

Haha don’t worry! He’s seven months old.

Ah ok. I know what you mean about the accents! I was going to suggest cbeebies storytime app but I can't remember how much interaction you'd need to have with it. I clearly remember cds (or tapes Blush) of Beatrix Potter books I loved from an early age, so they may be ok.

Have you tried podcasts?

Smellybears · 02/08/2018 11:52

I found a few podcasts but one of them the ‘woman’ sounded like a robot, another was a high pitched far too excited lady and the other an annoying American man. I have nothing against Americans by the way!
That’s a good idea, CDs, I haven’t got a CD player though. I’ve got a lullaby cd mum bought for him but I can’t play it in his room. I’m just going to have to go through some more podcasts! I’ll have a look at the cbeebies app you’ve recommended as well, thank you!

You could borrow audio books from the library on CD. Bit old school but free! They don't have to be kids or baby books. I reckon a soothing reading of Dickens or Austen would work.

Not what you asked but have you tried white noise? My 5 month old always falls asleep to it, including in pram going round Ikea yesterday! Rain Rain app is free and has loads of different white noises to play for free.

Dur sorry just noticed you don't have CD player!

Rain Rain better anyway, IMO! X

Something else occurred to me- what about putting a radio on w world service? It's v soothing.

Radio is a fab idea, why hadn’t I bought of that?! He likes listening to classic fm, he really gets into it! I have a white noise maker but was trying to think of other things to play him. Flowers
