Do you wake your baby (and would you from a lay in)

Cant believe I am asking this but...

9mo must be having a mad 5 min or something as he's a notoriously bad sleeper.

Typical day:

6.30am up
8.30am nap 1.5 - 2 hours
1-1.30pm nap 1 hour ish
7-7.30pm bed

Wakes 40min after going down for a cuddle
Then 10.45pm nurse
2.30am nurse
5 am nurse
6.30 up

Past week I have brought DS in our bed at the 5am nurse and he's just kept sleeping....like a log. Usually anything will wake him but I can lift his arm, tickle him etc and he's fast asleep.

At the weekend he slept til 8.30am until a car outside banged very loudly waking him. Dont get me wrong i was happy to lay there with him but the naps were then tricky for the day.

Since then I have been a right moo and woke him at 7ish because it seems just so odd....but I feel like a total prat for waking him!!

So....never wake a sleeping baby or is he old enough now that its better to Confused

I assume hes sleeping well because hes enjoying being in with us

Why on Earth are you waking him? Of course you shouldn't!

FirstTimePetitioner · 24/07/2018 07:20

No!! Make the most of it Grin

TittyGolightly · 24/07/2018 07:24

Absolutely not. Mine slept soundly from midnight till noon. They were the days. 😊

Fitzsimmons · 24/07/2018 07:24

Leave him. He might be having a growth spurt. He also might be getting ready to drop the morning nap?

Jellybabie3 · 24/07/2018 07:25

Lol. Good point. Fear of it making things worse i suppose Clearly I am awake anyway but I could happily doze....

I did say it was a wierd question.

I wouldn’t wake, I’d just drop the morning nap.

Jellybabie3 · 24/07/2018 07:26

Would he drop the morning nap at 9.5 mo

Christ no don't wake him. Sneaky tea and biscuits in bed next to him. With headphones watching Netflix Grin

Never!!
The only time I wake my kids it’s if they have a super nap at lunchtime and it gets to 3ish and they are still flat out....they will never go to bed at bedtime.
But in the mornings? Never!
We had one glorious day just after Christmas when the excitement must have caught up with DS, and he was like a log until 9:30am Shock he’s usually a 5:30/6 kinda guy Hmm

SoyDora · 24/07/2018 07:46

If he’s sleeping an extra couple of hours in the night he won’t need the morning nap. It’s about how much sleep they get over 24 hours.

Jellybabie3 · 24/07/2018 07:49

Great thanks all. Needed a reality check. I'm not one to dabble with what little sleep i get (waiting for the night feeds to drop).

I may need to build a temp barrier for a wee. My body clock wakes up even if he doesnt Hmm

Ever heard the saying never wake a sleeping baby... unless you have somewhere to be just don't do it! Lol. If it messes up his naps just put him down for a dinner one and keep him entertained till then xx

Spam88 · 24/07/2018 08:29

Christ no. I wake my daughter from her afternoon nap if she oversleeps otherwise she's even more of a nightmare at bed time, but it takes me half an hour to build up the courage to do it and I cry a little inside. If she was somehow ever to sleep past half 5 in the morning there is nothing on this earth that could persuade me to wake her.

Wet the bed if you have to.

arbrighton · 24/07/2018 10:04

God no, I never wake DS and he's slept til nearly 9 once or twice. Before 7 is unusual for him- that's what we got today but he went down VERY early last night

arbrighton · 24/07/2018 10:07

Oh and mine has been better on one midday(ish) nap since about 10 mo

Jellybabie3 · 24/07/2018 10:31

Thats great to know thanks!

Shock that you consider him to be a bad sleeper when he has 2 naps of at least an hour!! Dd has only ever slept for 30-45 mins max at a time during the day, didn't matter what we did to try and increase it. She also slept terribly at night til 12 months. Never wake a sleeping baby though and make the most of it!

Jellybabie3 · 24/07/2018 11:22

No his naps are now very good but I would prefer him to not wake every 2-3hours at night.....

I say terrible as weve had some excellent runs of 40min wake ups. Like 3 months worth
