Ds is almost 10 mths, and has always been an excellent sleeper, normally sleeps 7pm to 8am but the last 4 or 5 mornings has woken up at 5am

What the hell is this all about??

I have a blackout blind, and even put a king size quilt over the window too last night, to see if that was the prob, it obviously isnt as this morn again he woke at 5am!

He cant be hungry, as i still dreamfeed him a bottle at 11pm, so i am stuck as to what it could be!!

God i hate all this early waking/no sleep stuff! feel knackered already lol.

TIA

There is another thread going about this. My ds 10 months does the same. However this morning he woke up at five and he did go back to sleep on and off until 7am. First time though as he is usally up between 5 and 6am. He used to sleep till 7 aswell. The birds are really loud about 5am so not sure if they are waking him.

Yogimum...I have no idea what it could be, driving me potty though! i am not a happy bunny at 5 am! although i just cannot help but crack at smile at ds little bugger!

pucca, this is very common between ages of 6-12 mths

i tried everything with my 2, somehow it just solved itself after a few months. i just ended up going downstairs and dozing on the couch while baby played on the floor

good luck

Could just be a stage or teething..mine have all done it. Now they regularly get up at 6am..sigh

Its a "phase".

Yes, one of those dreaded things......

Keep on doing what you usually do to settle at night time and it will pass.

i go to bed at 9pm now.

a good morning for us at the moment is after 5.30.........

My DS did this for what seemed an eternity. And even now aged 2 he sometimes wakes up that early.
We put some books within reach on a shelf near his cot. Yes, even at 9 months he was well into books, the little intellectual. So when he woke up he could read books. We'd then listen to him playing and doze a bit. It helped that we didn't have to actually get up to him.

Also, I recall a phase where my husband slept on the floor outside DS1's bedroom so he could go in and lie him down in his cot and say "Go back to sleep" but I think this was largely to do with stopping me from getting there first and BFing him

My DS now 2 does this when he is teething. am lucky that doesn't wake up at night with teeth but we do get 5am eake ups. Ususally lasts about 3/4 days.

Mind you, he is normally 7-6.15 so its not as if he ever lies in........
