Thrashing and banging around in sleep

I ask a lot of questions but I don't want to Google cos that ends up worrying me lol.. The last 2 nights my lb has been lifting his legs and banging them in his sleep, he's also been letting out cries/screams in his sleep and it obviously makes me panic and I run into his room... He has reflux but he has had that from day 1 and also had colic but I think we're past that now and even when he had it we had it controlled... Any idea what's with the thrashing and the crying? I'm worried he's in pain or something :(

Is he too hot?

Reecex · 13/07/2018 21:48

No he's only in his vest at nights as our wee flat is roasting, anything else and he's sweating like mad!

How old is he and does he do it during the day when he's awake?

Reecex · 13/07/2018 21:51

He's 5 months and yes he has started banging his legs a lot through the day but not during nap times...

Is he upset when doing it when awake? If he's distressed during the day then I'd ask health visitor or GP.

Reecex · 13/07/2018 22:33

No he doesn't seem to be upset or distressed during the day at all he's just getting to know his feet so brings them up and bangs them back down lol then does a wriggle and laughs etc

If he's not waking up at night then I wouldn't worry, just acting stuff out in his sleep that he does during the day. My DS1 was a terrible restless sleeper, well he still is aged 5!l

Okay I'll try not to worry, the screaming in the middle of the night is hard to not worry about though haha! Bless him

Oh my! I'm actually up with my 6mo for this same reason. You may be happy to know (after googling) that this all seems pretty normal. It seems to be the general thinking that they have found their limbs and have discovered that they move in funny ways! Because they're moving in their sleep, it can startle them which causes the cries.

I must point out that I am in no way any sort of medical professional so if you are worried please do get it checked!!

Fingers crossed it's just a phase and they pack it in soon Wink
