Sleeping in this heat!

How is everyone managing to deal with this heat and getting their LOs to sleep. Mine is 10 months old and generally speaking sleeps through the night but at the moment I can't even get her to sleep let alone have her sleep through. This heat is litterally killing us all and it doesn't help that her room is the hottest room in the house. Any tips and tricks? I feel like I've tried just about everything!

Do you have a fan? If so put a bowl of ice in front of it, it will blow the cold air around the room.

Put sheets in the freezer for a while so they’re cool on the bed.

Put a damp muslin down under her or on top of her.

Keep the curtains closed in daytime to keep the sun out.

A fan will probably help. The white noise from a fan it a help in its own right, as well as the cooling air movement.

I'd also suggest a cool bath immediately before bed. If that isn't possible, sponge down the whole of baby's head, hair and neck.

Definitely don't use any bedding if it's very hot. Just baby in a vest. Maybe just in a nappy.

We decided to take the plunge and bought and small portable air conditioning unit. It's too noisy to stay on over night but in an hour or two will cool the room down to 19 degrees then stays comfortable for the rest of the night.
It was more expensive than I'd like but we've used it every night for a couple of weeks and will probably continue using it for a while this summer and future ones. Especially as our DS is 9 months. It can be moved around to cool different rooms before bed time.

@oneofthose can i ask what you brought. I am running on steam atm as DS is waking atleast every hour and is pretty much only settling for a feed (undoing weeks of self settling) currently 29C in his room with a ceiling fan on medium and only in a nappy. He cant sleep with the window open.

@Jellybabie3 I bought one of these and had it delivered next day out of desperation. My DS had just started to sleep longer stretches and then the heat ruined that. It saved us last night as it was just so hot again!

Keep all of your curtains and windows closed during the day to keep the heat out. Only open them when the temperature has dropped in the evenings or early morning. And overnight if possible.

If her room is the hottest, move her!
