Overheating at night

Hi, I'm a new parent and have a 4 week old girl. My bedroom at night has been really warm the last few nights, and I hadn't realised how serious the dangers of overheating were. I've been swaddling her in a miracle blanket at night with just a nappy underneath but she has been getting hot and sweaty sometimes, and a little bit fussier than normal. I'm worried I should have taken more steps to cool her down immediately. I've got her in a light grobag at night now so it has fewer layers and she seems a lot cooler, but are the last few nights likely to have caused any issues for her? She's seemed happy and alert during the day and is feeding well.

Hi same here, FTM to a 15 week old baby.
I have her in just a short sleeve vest at night, not using the grobag if it's over 23-24 degrees. I also leave the window slightly open.
I know it's difficult to stop worrying, but I always think I could still be in Madrid (where I'm from) and I can assure you it's much hotter there (and my friends' babies are fine!)

Good luck x

Don't worry, no harm done and sounds like you've taken the right steps to keep her a bit cooler from now on.

When it's really warm I just put my baby in a vest and then cover with one lightweight blanket as it cools down.

Ps my 4.5 month old baby is currently napping in just her nappy as it's very warm today. Check there tummy or back of neck to see how they feel xxx

I live in the Caribbean and I swaddled with a miracle blanket from day 1 with DS1.

We keep our A/C at 80oF year round - I used to just keep DS1 in a pamper (and potentially a short sleeve onesie) and then wrap him in the miracle blanket.

He used to have a slightly sweaty neck but was never overly hot. The Miracle Blanket was my savior - he slept from 11pm-6am from 10 days old (fed all day mind) but getting decent sleep from the start meant the world of difference in those early days.
