Any tips on getting 15 month old to self soothe to sleep?

I co slept with my dd until about a year in our bedroom. Then I put her in her own room however took off the side bars and slept next to her on a mattress. This has lead me to lying next to her and soothing her to sleep. However now I have moved back into my own room, so I need to put the rails back up for safety etc. Also my soothing her to sleep is no longer working and she is using it to play up before bed. So this will be my first night letting her go to sleep on her own. I am under no illusion it's going to be easy but I was wondering if anyone has any tips or has been in a similar situation to mine? Eg getting an older baby to self soothe to sleep.

The first thing I'd do is introduce a snuggler, special teddy, blankie or similar. Something to give her some comfort when she's on her own.

Are you doing a gradual retreat type of thing? Or leaving and returning at set timings?

She snuggles onto my duvet on the mattress but I have put a little bit of it through the bars so she can cuddle it. I think I need to get her something similar to cuddle so when we go away she's not relying on a duvet. First night tonight and we decided on going in every 15 minutes she was crying. However only had 5 minutes of crying, half an hour of fidgeting and she was asleep. Not sure if it was a fluke but so far so good. Hopefully it stays that easy!
