Swaddles for large babies - recommendations needed

My son (10 weeks) has just started trashing a lot during his sleep, so we’ve started swaddling again, which means he sleeps so much better. The swaddle-me swaddles with velcro are great as he can’t break free, but he’s already too big for it. He’s over 7kg already and I don’t want to be crushing him as he sleeps.

Can anyone recommend a swaddle with Velcro (or any other straight-jacket qualities) that will fit a larger baby?

I can recommend Love to Dream swaddle bags. I bought mine off Amazon but I know that Jojo Maman Bebe sells them as well. My large 10 week old is in the large size version. They are zip up swaddle bags but with the arms up by their heads- the best way I can describe is arms up as if surrendering to the police!! I think the arms up position is supposed to be better for babies this sort of age as by now a lot of them would get annoyed having their arms down by their sides, but still helps to stop the Moro reflex jolting them awake.

You’re a life saver, thank you!

Since we’ve started swaddling again, we’ve all had a better nights sleep. I was getting scared that his current one is going to be too small for him in a matter of a week or so I’d have to start using cable ties or something to restrain him.

I will get one of these ordered asap!

If you try love to dream and your baby has trouble settling (my DS2 had too much freedom and wriggled himself awake every hour Confused), I'd recommend a 'swaddly', available from their own web online shop or from Amazon. It's an arms only swaddle and we use it over a sleeping bag. Easy to wean off too (experience from DS1). We used this set up until DS1 was about 9 months then swaddled him on the loose side to initially fall asleep and then stealthily unvelcroed the top layer. The underneath layer stayed safely round his chest. Then we could put him down without after a while. Hoping to do the same this time!

Second the love to dream swaddle bags. Best purchase ever.

The miracle blanket swaddle is bloody amazing.

I love the miracle blanket too but I suspect OP's DS will already be too big for it. It only comes in one size, mine were out of it by the time they were 6.5 kg.

Miracle blanket, my ds is 8 weeks and already nearly 13lbs, he has plenty of room left in his miracle blanket.

Does the miracle blanket have Velcro? Our DS is a wee Houdini, he needs a fairly robust locking mechanism or he makes a bid fir freedom.

No Velcro, but it's great for Houdini babies, my Dc1 who used it before dC2 was like this. It has flaps that go over the arms, and then under the back, so the babies own weight keeps everything in place. Much better than Velcro imo
