Where to nap?

Hi all,

my 4 month old has out grown her Moses basket, and has been reluctant to nap in it anyway for a while.
We had quite a battle getting any sleep from about 3 months.
So we've focus on getting the hang of bedtime for the last month, she's now able to self settle at 7 and wake once for a feed, with the occasional sleep through.

Now I want to get a hang of the naps, do people generally let LOs nap in their bedside crib at this age? Or still keep them near by? I'm worried about her getting confused with day and night if she's in the bedroom with the curtains closed?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

SIDS prevention advice says same room as you for ALL sleep til 6 mo

And ideally, if you want to keep them able to sleep without total silence and dark, in their own cot and nowhere else, don't close the curtains etc

But also bear in mind, there is a sleep regression coming up (or already started possibly)

Thanks @arbrighton , what should I do about what she naps in until then?

On you (usually works well and NETFLIX, get a brew first)

In cot/ on your bed with you in room (read or nap yourself)

Pram/ car seat

Any or all of the above have worked well for me

But then I'm a still BF, often baby wearing, sometimes cosleeping, can't spoil them by holding them mother....

My two used to always nap in their bouncy chairs. They used to do 2.5 hours over lunchtime and I would stress about the fact I couldn't get them to do this sleep in their cots. Now they're 9 months and refuse to do more than 30mins (usually in the pram) and I can't work out why I was so bothered previously about the bouncy chairs! So my advice is, just be grateful and make the most of when baby sleeps during the day and don't fret too much where it happens :)

Naps in the buggy were the best way to get my DD to sleep in the daytime at that age. If we were out anyway I’d just recline the seat, put the shade up and pop her dummy in then stroll around til she fell asleep. If we were home and she wasn’t giving in to the cot nap, I’d put her in the buggy and stroll round the block. Sometime it could take ages but eventually she’d give in. Then I could go to the local Cafe and get a coffee!! Couldn’t have done it without the dummy though.
