Hey. My family are planning on going to Spain next month. Out DD will be nearly 13 months old at this point. This’ll be the first time our baby will be sleeping in a different bed since she was in her cot and we were wondering if this would effect her sleeping.

Has anyone else travelled with a baby nearly 12 months for 2 weeks? How was the experience? I can’t wait for days by the pool splashing around and lots of time with my DD but I’m a bit apprehensive about the nights and the sleeping arrangement.

We did and are again his year. The 1 hour time difference worked great for us, she got up later and went to bed later so we all ate together and it was a lot more chilled than I had even hoped. We did relax schedule, everything was in the same order just followed her lead on timings.
Hopefully you have a wonderful time and enjoy it.

@RuskBaby did you baby take well for sleeping in a different surrounding?

@Cooper82 sure did, my best advice is to try and relax and hope it will go well. If your one doesn’t sleep too well, it’s only 2 week. I honestly do believe that keeping calm helped us out. We were prepared for sleep to go to pot but needn’t have worried.

Thanks @ruskbaby. Was you baby a decent sleeper before you went away though?
Thanks for the positive thoughts.

From memory that was during our 4am wake up stage. I think the change was enough to break the cycle maybe.

We went away with our little one (he's nearly 6 months now) last month and I was equally worried.
I tried to replicate how we sleep at home as much as possible (keeping to routine, putting the cot as close to me as possible etc) which were all great but the thing I'm gladdest about was taking the sleeping bag and little sheet he'd been in for a few nights so it smelled of home/ sleep for him. I also used the travel nightlight that we took with us at home for a few nights before we left to transition him.

The first night was a little less sleep than usual (but nothing major- he just woke a few more times than usual but settled himself) but was fine the rest of the time.
It's normal to worry and I did too but in hindsight it was fine.

Enjoy your break x
