Our 13 month old hasn't ever been the best sleeper but otherwise is a very happy and social little thing. A good night is her waking only a couple of times for her dummy.

We've been having periods overnight when she's just awake, she won't go back to sleep and this can last from an hour to 4 hours. She has slept better on the nights she's been with grandparents and nursery when I'm at work 3 days per week so it must be something we are missing/doing as her parents.

She has a morning nap around 3 hours after she wakes up but varies depending on if she's tired or not. Afternoon naps are hit and miss as we are out every day so it could be a quic pram nap or she falls asleep in the car on the way home.

I've read so many different things, so much different advice, so many books to choose from.... I'm sitting here, tired and not super happy with life, not even knowing what advice to take or what books to read.

I've looked at maybe buying the Little Ones programs online and a couple of mummy friends are suggesting a SleepyHead. We are happy to get a sleep consultant in too. Bedtime is roughly the same time each time within a window of half an hour.

If anyone has had something similar please share!

When she wakes in the night what’s happening - does she cry?
Do you lift her up to comfort her?

If she doesn’t do this with her grandparents it sounds like she knows that she will get the attention if she does it at home with you

Have you tried leaving her to self settle?

Our DS was like this it was a nightmare, we had to stop letting him nap during the day for a little while and now he sleeps 8-7ish every night and only naps when he really needs it.

She groans and can turn into a cry! We try not to lift her up and we've tried to let her cry it out and self soothe, sometimes I've lifted her up. Probably not been as consistent as I need to but it's hard when she's so upset. Controlled crying worked when she was much smaller but now it just is awful.

Any books or tips greatly welcomed!

Does she settle to the sound of white noise or similar? Plenty if sound activated sleep aids on the market (olly the owl etc)
I assume she’s in her own room now? Could she be getting too cold or hot during the night and thats what’s waking her up?
