Broken sleep and working full-time

Am I the only one?! I'm sure I'm not. So how do you cope? DD (25 months) is usually a great sleeper - despite eight dreadful months when she was tiny! Anyway...

More recently though she's had a couple of bugs and has been waking up during the night. (Tonight I've no idea what's wrong with her but she's been up three times since midnight.) Thing is, I find it really really hard to be up all night with her and then go to work. I've recently had some strange viruses myself and think I'm just very run down.

Not sure what I'm asking here - just for some sympathy really from people who know what it's like! I'm just permanently exhausted and achey and stiff. I'm tempted to use up some annual leave with a week off work or something to recover, but then I think I might need it if DD is ill later in the year...

hi verso. i work f/t and co-sleep with dd. i found it was the only way to competently look after her and work and stay sane. maybe cuddle her tonight?

i know it isn't the answer for many.... but sympathies.

Hi Verso
Lots of sympathy here.
I got overexhausted last year when I was a SAHM and came out in exczema all over, which took ages to clear up. Doc said that had I been working he would have signed me off for a month!
So I think having time off to recover is a good idea. If you do it now, you might be able to get away with a couple days if you leave your DD at nursery, force yourself to do nothing, except rest and a little bit of mumsnet!

hi verso. i've been back at work for 5 weeks, dd is 8 1/2 months and i'm well and truly knackered! she often sleeps reasonably well, often waking just once but is then ready for the day at about 5.45am. i too have found myself picking up all sorts of bugs etc and am at my wits end. i know i shouldnt have gone back full time but i thought i'd be ok.
sorry, nothing to offer as help but hopefully, it'll get better for us all soon.
