Mine's just turned 8mo and will only nap for 20 mins in morning and about 40 mins 1pm. Bedtime is at 6.30 but he"s up umpteen times in night. He's always been terrible but wondering if currently in regression. If yours went thru what did it look like? Xx

My lb went through his just as he hit 8 months. We think anyway!, like you he's never been a good sleeper and has always been up 2-3 times at night. Through the regression his naps seemed to have shortened and his nighttime's were horrendous he would be up 4-6 times and one of those wake ups he would be crying Or even screaming for up to 2 hours and we couldn't do anything with him. This happened every night for 5-7 nights and then it just went back to his normal restless self!

Poor you! it's hard isn't it!? I found it helpful to feed DD a bit more late afternoon (bring feeds closer together) to help her feel full and settled for longer at night.

I can't help but think that all the info about sleep regressions at certain ages is really unhelpful to parents! I decided not to believe in them and lo and behold they didn't happen (I'm not saying DD didn't have phases where she thought napping was for wusses, but it never tallied with the regression schedule).

Parents I know who take this idea seriously tend to be less persistent in trying to help baby to sleep if they're in a 'sleep regression' which tends to mean that the 'regression' lasts longer!

I think the PP is probably right. When my children (now older teenagers) were babies nobody had 'invented' sleep regressions, and whaddyaknow? None of the babies I knew had them. Babies' sleep patterns can change all the time due to things like illness, teething, daylight hours, temperature, so I don't think it's helpful to label it.

Have never thought about it like that. I think. I like to put labels on things to help control it. Rarely helps though!
