Teething only at night?? Self settling goes out the window

So we suspect our 6mo is teething. 3 little lumps on the bottom gum. Hes just learned to self settle through gradual retreat which has been great. He settled for this mornings nap. But as soon as the last nap of the day comes about and bed time he is hysterical. Like choking hysterical. So i have to hold his hand.

Can teething get worse at late evening or night?? So wierd! Last night he had calpol and had some improvement but still woke every 1.5 - 2 hours

Teething pain is worse when laying down and at sleep time there is no other distractions. Give nurofen before bed and use anbesol oil (not gel).

There is also a big sleep regression at 6 months too.

That’s not so bad is it?

That’s not so bad is it? no of course not. I'd do whatever to make him comfortable. The issue is he wakes after every sleep cycle screaming because my hand is gone.

Anyway. Tried "teetha" tonight and hes self settled and stayed down without a peep ☺

One of my DC was like this. Her teeth didn't seem to bother her at all during the day but gave her a lot of trouble at night. She was a good sleeper most of the time but terrible for a few weeks whenever her teeth were coming through. Teething granules and calpol did seem to help. The good news is that she went back to sleeping fine whenever she wasn't teething. The bad news is that the front teeth were nothing compared to the back teeth!
