Baby won't sleep in my arms :(

Feel a little silly complaining about this but hoping someone might be able to give some advice..
My 8 month old loves his sleep, probably a little too much!! my problem is he will only sleep in his cot (or a bed) or his buggy. Fine for the most part but The problem arises when I'm at a friend's house. I can't fit the buggy in, and he won't sleep on me! This also makes me very nervous for a 9 hour flight we have coming up in 6 weeks as he's going to have to nap in our arms as won't fit in the bassinet :( i miss my cuddley baby, he won't cuddle me or go to sleep in my arms for love nor money! Feeding to sleep on me, shushing and rocking havnt helped. It would just be nice to be able to have a sit down at my friend's without having to whisk bubba away in the buggy and walk for an hour or drive around/go home. I know there's
worse problems to have but Any advice would be great! Smile

After 4 months mine only ever slept in their cots, they wouldn’t even sleep in their pushchairs! It was a bit of a pain.
However every time we flew they did eventually go in my arms (when they were completely exhausted!)

Oh I know the feeling, I have a 10 month old that is exactly the same! In a lot of ways I know we’re lucky as she’s a great sleeper and has done 12 hours overnight since 4 months old but it does get really difficult when you’re travelling.

I’ve replaced the big pram with a small stroller so I can easily pop it up indoors and DD can usually be persuaded to sleep with some back & forth pushing.

As for the flight... we did 9 and a half hours transatlantic last month. It was tricky to say the least! She was far too big for the bassinet and attempting to sleep on us was a bit of a disaster, she did eventually pass out from sheer exhaustion but there was a lot of thrashing and fussing and she didn’t sleep for long. She kicked a glass of wine on DH, she vomited on me. It ultimately worked out well as she went straight to sleep when we arrived and adjusted to the time difference straight away but oh my god did it makes me long for the days of flying without kids!! Next time we might try booking her an actual seat and taking the car seat (ours is airplane approved) as she does sometimes sleep in the car. No idea if it will help though.

Sorry no actual helpful advice there, if anyone has any I’d love to hear it, but plenty of commiserations!

Could you try a sling for the plane? Walk the aisles until he falls asleep?

Are you flying with someone else and sat next to them? Could he sleep across your laps if you take a pillow?

I always think these: jet-kids.com look amazing but they need to have their own seat to use it...

Sleeping across laps might be a good shout, yes love the look of those jet kids things, we have booked 2 seats in a row of three so praying there's a spare seat somewhere they can re-locate the single traveller next to us so bub can have his own seat 🙏
