I'm shit. Where do I start?!

I have 18 month old dc with no nap routine, it's different every day. Bedtime routine is a bottle of milk on my bed and I lay next to them then move to cot when asleep.

I realise this is totally shit, I just don't know where to start to fix it all! I've been googling all day and feeling overwhelmed at all the different approaches.

The cot is still in our room so when they wake in the night we go into the front room as it's a tiny flat and if I leave them to cry they will wake dh and other dc. (I work evenings so don't have to be up and ready like they do)

So any ideas where to start/what to do? I also want to get rid of the dummy!

Have you tried just putting him in cot instead of your bed? What happens? Can you move cot into his own room?

What works for me (I breastfeed and until recently fed to sleep then transferred to cot when asleep). Now, I feed him and put him in cot awake. I sit in the chair in his room, lights off, no eye contact, just occasional shushing if he whinges a bit. At first it tom half an hour to go to sleep with some crying. After around 5 nights, he’s asleep within 10 minutes and no crying. I creep out the room when asleep. I plan to follow the gradual retreat method.

What / why do you want to change?? There's nothing in your post that says there's a problem?

Do you need a routine in the day?

Does DC fall asleep reasonably easy and then sleep through??

Otherwise, if it's working for you, it's not shit!!
