Rolling

My 4 month old has started to try to roll onto his tummy and is generally quite fidgety in his sleep.
He wakes himself up doing it and ATM he doesn't have quite enough room in his snuzpod to fully roll over, it's attached onto my bed so if I leave the side down he manages to wriggle and get his lower or upper body into my bed which has me on alert all night.

He had an ear infection so wasn't sleeping very well but now it's gone and he's still managing to wake up every hour or hour and a half and I'm getting really tired.

Does it sound like he needs moving into a cot?

What can I do to help him sleep for longer stretches? Up until about 3 mo he was capable of sleeping from 8.30pm to 1.15am and then wake every 2-3hours and now it's constant.
Am I doing something wrong?

He's EBF btw.

4 month sleep regression, it's 'fun'. Can you take the pod out of the cot? We have a sleepyhead and that stops mine from rolling as it's a snug fit.

Sounds like he's ready for his cot

@MonkeyPoke it's a snuzpod it's like a crib so not in a cot ATM.

@April45 what happens if he rolls onto his front in the cot, do I leave him if he keeps on sleeping?

Hi, we had a similar situation. I loved the snuzpod but once LO started to roll we realised how narrow it was! Bouncing off the side in semi sleep...
Have you room for a full size cot? We managed to hack an IKEA one and join it up to our bed which gave usa few more months. After that, once started learning to crawl we added the side, then moved to own room - which was less of a big step as the bed was so familiar by then.

I think the advice re rolling onto front is it's ok to sleep like that once they put themselves into that position as it's assumed they can also get back. You'll not be able to stop him anyway and can't spend all night flipping him back over ( I know as I tried! ;-) )

P.s everybody's sleep improved with the extra space, then even more with the different room a few months later, but don't expect miracles as it's prime time for sleep regression.

Thanks @user1491924338

Unfortunately there's not enough room between the bed and the wall to fit a cot at the side.
I've popped DS into a gro bag last night and it seems to have helped a little, he was up every 2-3hours rather than hour and a half. Not sure if it was the gro bag or just a fluke.

I think we will be off to get a cot soon by the looks of things.

You have my sympathies. I think bloody hope that we are at the end of the sleep regression now. Our ebf 5mo sleeps in a next to me and also tried to roll over in his sleep but wakes himself (And me) up doing it.

I think we have managed to teach him to self settle though as in a week, he has gone from not napping anywhere but on me or in the car for weeks to napping for an hour and a half in his own cot. I'm beside myself with happiness!
Last night we also got the first decent stretch between feeds (6 hours) for weeks and weeks. We have basically taught him to suck his thumb and he does this to out himself back to sleep now when he wakes up (I've seen him do it during every nap he has had this week)
I also started feeding him less during the day. Counter intuitive but it meant that for each feed he was taking a decent amou t of milk rather than just the foremilk and hardly any fatty hindmilk. Going to continue this today and see how we get on tonight
Fingers crossed!!

NomsQualityStreets my dd is the same and I'm thinking it might be time for her cot, she's almost 5 months and is currently in a crib but wakes us all up banging against it. She can roll on to her front but struggles to get back but does have good head control so I'm so paranoid to put her in her own room. I've just bought a better matress for her travel cot to try tonight to see if she sleeps better!
