Wake crying from naps

Hello! I've just managed in last few weeks to get 11 week old to nap in cot. Half the time he wakes up crying. It doesn't last too long and he's not hungry. Not nice to see though!!

Am I putting him down too soon or should I encourage him to go back to sleep? He usually naps for 40-45 minutes

Thank you!!

My 7.5 month old is the same, always cries when she wakes up. She's slowly growing out of it though.

I would say pretty normal. Mine all did it was just there way of shouting "mummy I'm awake and you're not heerrrrrreeee!!!" They soon settled after a bit of a cuddle/feed.

Mines nine months and has never once woken from a nap doing anything other than screaming Sad

I kept naps in the bouncer until they extended past sn hour. It means when you get the usual stirring after around 40m I could bounce back to sleep. Son baby wasn't waking after the first deep cycle so I then moved naps to the cot.

If you want to keep cot naps, stay close by throughout the nap (as you should first SIDS Safe Sleep guidelines) and as soon as you notice first signs of moving out of a deep sleep, try up resettle before baby wakes up. For example dummy insert and patting.

Mine did this at around 3 months onwards. I though he was waking hungry so was feeding every 2 hours at that point. Turns out he was still tired after only 30 mins sleep. Once I figured this out and encouraged him to go back to sleep the crying stopped and feeding went back to 3 hourly.
