16 month old unsettled since seperation

To cut to the case my 16 month old has gone from putting himself to sleep and sleeping all night to waking 3-4 times within the space of 3 hours and then 5-6 times throughout the night. Myself and his dad separated at the start of the year and I moved out to stay with my dad, during this time the baby was in a travel cot in the room with me and when he would wake I couldn't let him cry as I would at home as he would wake the whole house up and he has a stubborn streak a mile long so if I'd left him he would have cried for hours!.So he ended up in my bed every single night just so everyone could sleep.

Now during this time my ex was staying at our house and reported that apart from an unsettled few hours at the start of the night my son was still sleeping straight through. So I put thus down to being in his own house in his own room and bed. Cut to now where I'm back in the house and my ex is living somewhere else in the exact same situation I was in before, baby in travel cot and ending up in bed with him every night. I thought though that being as his dad said how well he slept at home he would just...sleep now that I'm living here I suppose but no,he's woken up 4 times in 3 hours and has been awake now for over an hour,im sat with my back to him and he's laying in bed clapping. I'm not sure what I'm ment to do? I know his routine has bee ruined but if he was sleeping well in his room before why not now?I honestly was excited for some proper sleep after weeks of having a toddler rolling on my head and kicking me in the throat every night....

You’ve moved your baby around and unsettled his environment.. no wonder he’s not sleeping! Just ride it out. Those baby cuddles in the night don’t last forever

He's a baby. It's what they do. He doesn't know what's happening or where he is so it's natural for him to check you are there and he's safe.

Babies also go through sleep regressions. It wasn't until my LO was 2.5 that I didn't have to worry about sleep if we went on holiday or to a friends house.

Give it time!

which would make sense Oly5 if he hadn't been sleeping through in his room and own bed every single time he stayed at the house when his dad was here. The only thing that's changed in the house is the person living here.

You jumped in with a response to him stirring, absolutely understandably.
Now it's going to take a little while to get back to how things were.

Don't panic. It'll happen.

Sounds good to be back in your own place. Just let the dust settle.

I've bern separated since dd2 was 4 months old. She's 3.5 now and sleeps in her own bed all night at her dad's house (Only started going at Christmas) but comes in with me every night still at home. I just go with it and assume she'll get there eventually.

My ds doesn't sleep through with me, he tries it on almost every night.

Send him to DNannies and hey presto, she doesn't hear a peep out of him!

He knows nanny won't have it, yet il go running to give him a bottle.
