How to nap

I'm really suffering with sleep deprivation with a teething 5.5 month old who has never slept well at night but does nap fairly well in the day. I'd love to nap in the day with her but I always wake up feeling a million times worse than when I fell asleep - headache, groggy, feeling sick, disoriented etc. Because of this I just stopped trying to nap in the day as it made me feel awful but I'm on my knees with tiredness now.

Does anyone have any tips on how to nap so that I don't wake up feeling worse? Anything I can do before or after?

There's an optimum amount of time for an adult to nap, I think it's 30 mins, after which you go into a deeper sleep cycle. Might have that time wrong tho!

That makes sense, so maybe I should set an alarm so they're shorter!

Apparently you drink a coffee right before sleep. It takes 20 mins for caffeine to affect you so set an alarm for 30 mins, wake feeling awake.

NapQueen - I'll give that a go, thank you!

Ooh I love a nap. I set a timer for 15 minutes. 5 invites to drift off and 10 minutes to have a sleep. It's incredible what a difference 10 minutes makes. Any more than that and I'm useless for the day. Has to be 10 minutes!
