Is my toddler proofing on my 21 month old's new bed safe?

Hi everyone, I am in the process of preparing my sons room for him to move out of his cot bed and into a single bed which we bought for him. We saw this single bed frame second hand and had to buy it as we wouldn't be able to afford it new so we moved him into our room in his cot bed and while I put it together in his room and redecorated and I'm thinking of moving my son into it soon. The manufacturer assured me the bed is suitable from age 2 years and up, the bed is low to the floor and the sides are raised so I thought it would be fine to put him in it, however I noticed that the edges of the raised sides on the inside aren't curved like I thought they would be, they're not sharp but Im still worried about my son either headbutting them or standing up on the bed then falling and hitting his head on the edge (Im not sure if Im being silly here?) I bought soft edge guards and stuck them on but was worried he would just pull them off and they didn't stay down very well in parts so I duct taped them but the duct tape started coming up so I sellotaped over that all around and it's staying down, but now Im worried that its not safe to have sellotaped edge guards all round the edges? Im probably over worrying and sound crazy but is it a hazard to have sellotaped something around the edges? I also wanted to cover the edge guards in sellotape/duct tape in case he decided to bite them as pieces of the foam might have come off into his mouth.

This is the bed from the website so you can see what I mean about the edges not being curved on the inside but straight www.carbedshop.co.uk/product/speedster-viper-race-car-bed-blue-with-knight-rider-lights-wheel-leds-and-sounds/
....now it has this foam edge guard

I know its a long post and thank you in advance for any advice/opinions on this
