Poddlepod/sleepyhead

Hello all! So I need some advice on the poddle pod or the sleepyhead. I will only be using it during the day (day naps) or if I wake up early, breast feed and then put them in this next to me in bed for a couple of hours! I will not be using these over night as I have seen on both sites that these are not recommended for this. I am going to use a moses basket over night and buy a cot when the baby is ready to go in their own room! Sorry i am a first time mum so lots of questions!

I would use moses basket for day and night tbh, what's the advantage of this in the day?

The sleepyhead is the only one of these type of things that is approved for overnight sleeping. We had one for dd and it was brilliant.

coffeerequired · 20/03/2018 18:54

Had both and the poddlepod was awful. Sleepyhead was amazing. I remember my DH saying “how much?! For a cushion?!” But it enabled our refluxy son to finally sleep, I would pay over and over again!

Sleepyheads still have to be supervised, don't think you can leave them to sleep in it overnight.

Thanks everyone. Yea i wouldn't use for overnight, just in the day and it is also handy to bring around friends/relatives house!

Why can’t you leave him in it overnight? I did, as far as I am aware it is fine to do so. Babies under 6 months should always sleep in the same room as you anyway. If baby gets used to sleepyhead during the day I doubt he will like a Moses basket at night. I had a side sleeper cot at night with the sleepyhead and my dd2 slept really well in it day and night. Only thing is we then had to get the sleepyhead grande which is a bloody fortune!

SparkleSarah22, what is your question?

For clarity, the poddle pod or the sleepyhead do not adhere to Safe Sleep Guidelines to use a firm, flat, waterproof mattress in a cot clear of anything aside from bedding.

It does not adhere to these SIDS guidelines for any sleep, daytime or night time.

That said, risk management is a very personal thing and many people choose to use one anyway.

I used sleepyhead overnight for 7 months (when not cosleeping). Not all babies will sleep on a firm flat mattress so you need to assess yourself what you’re comfortable with. The sleepyhead is breathable.

Both my DS loved the poddle pod for daytime naps up until they were about 6/7 months old. I usually had it on the bed or floor beside me and snoozed or played on my phone beside them while they slept. Truthfully they never napped for longer than an hour or on a good day 90 minutes at a time though up to 9 months!
Neither took to the Moses basket very well until they were pretty close to growing out of it. They loved their cots though once we got them settled into them properly. Took DS2 A LOT longer than DS1 to settle into a cot though!

Love our poddlepod for day naps and loads of other things too- playing and changing clothes etc really handy, highly recommend!
