Is it normal for a 10 month old to have such long naps in the morning?

My Ds is nearly 10 months old and goes down for a nap in the morning within 2 hours of waking up.

He will sleep for minimum of 90 minutes but can sleep for 2 hours or more (I usually end up waking him up after 2 hours as we need to go out etc) - is this normal so soon after a good 12 hours kip at night?

He then tends to have another nap after lunch (for about an hour).

He goes to nursery 3 days a week and usually has 1 (2 maximum) naps there rarely lasting longer than 45 minutes - and his first nap is usually after 11am even though he has been up since 6.30ish!

my ds is nearly 18 months old. He has only every really had 1 nap a day which is in the morning and can sometimes last 3 or 4 hours. He has been doing this since he was about 6 months old.

Sometimes if he is distrubed in the morning he will have another snooze in the afternoon but if he gets a good morning sleep he goes right through to bed time. He also sleeps a good 12 hours at night.

completely normal for him to get tired 2 hours after waking up

My 17 month old wakes at 7 - 7.30 ish ad then at 10.30 goes down for about an hour and a half - 2 hours. Always has done. DD1 did this too.

She then also goes down for a nap, or maybe just a rest at about 3.30 ish, but sometimes misses it these days.

Same here Ceebee. Unlike my DDs, who needed very little daytime sleep as babies, DS has only ever lasted a couple of hours in the morning before sleeping another couple of hours, despite a 12-hour night. And he has another 1.5-2 hours in the afternoon, like your DS. It's great!

PS DS is 9.5 months

Thanks for the reassurance.

Don't get me wrong as it is great - I get loads of time to have a shower, get ready, MN , do chores etc.

I'm like a mad whirlwind from 10.30 - 12.30!

It really is the norm as far as I know.

Wouldn't you love to go back to bed for a couple of hours every day? Get up, have breakfast, watch a bit of morning tv, read the papers and then get back under that duvet for a couple of hours, ohhh know I would.

Oh yes Thom - in fact, before DS came along, me and DH used to do that regularly at the weekends (although not always to sleep straight away )
