Nap dilemma - need your vote!

As mentioned on some of the other nap threads, DS (10 weeks) will only nap for 30 mins at a time in pram or bouncy chair. The only way to get him to go for longer is let him nap on me, then I cuddle/shush him whenever he threatens to wake up. (Cuddling/shushing when he is in chair/pram doesn't work at all.) So, do I...

A. Put him down for naps in the chair/pram, on the grounds that at least he is learning to nap not on me, even if it's only for 30 mins? And hope he will start to go longer at some point?

B. Let him nap on me, on the grounds that at least he is learning to take longer naps? And hope at some point I can transfer him to the pram or crib?

C. Any other ideas?

I'm really interested to see what everyone else would do, so please cast your vote!

How about C? If it's possible (don't know how many other kids you have) nap with him once a day to both get some rest. Encourage him to nap alone the other times so he learns how to nap without you.

I did this with DD although her problem was getting off to sleep rather than waking up before fully rested. When older DS was napping after lunch, we co-slept. Her morning nap she napped alone which at first involved lots of to-ing and fro-ing to settle her but would be a decent nap once she settled.

Last thread sounds like a good idea. DD (1omths) always resisted naps unless I was with her or she was in pram. However, without any cc, she has really got into her naps now she is crawling and wearing herself out. She slept for a whole 90mins this afternoon-a record. It took time but she got into naps in her own time. I think what I am trying to say is that your lo is only young and go with whatever works at the mo and gets you and him the most rest.

TBH, I put my 14 week upstairs in her cot for naps. Otherwise she wouldn't get any sleep as my ds 3.6 is very very noisy. She definitely takes longer naps for going in her cot. Also her pram is getting a bit small now as she likes to try to roll. I have been putting her upstairs a few weeks and I can hear her breathing on my monitor. HTH.

Your ds will get used to whatever you do and will resist any change in the routine, but if you persist eventually he'll get used to the new routine.

buy a sling(a pouch or ring sling style one maybe) and keep ds in it at nap times then you can get on with stuff and he gets a good kip too.
ds2 was similar and would not sleep in pram or car seat for more than a few minutes it drove me mad as I hadn't discovered slings then so he was getting bad tempered and overtired and so was I. dd1 seems similar but is great in her sling honestly - it works great!

chances are this length of time will change when DS was 10 weeks he went through a stage of only having two 20 minute naps a day and it gradually turned into a 1 hour nap in the morning a two hours in the afternoon.

I would persevere with putting him down to nap
