How to sidecar a cot

My daughter is 6 months old and waking hourly (at most) at the moment. She's been in a crib next to my bed but she's rolling and pressing her face in to the side and I'm worried about her safety.

We have a cot that I'd like to put next to the bed as with the crib is but what do I do about the gap? Do I plug it with towels or something?

Please help!

Make sure the cot mattress and your mattress are the same height, you may need to make extra holes in the cot. Use cable ties or bungee cords to secure the cot and bed together so it can't move away. Plug the small gap either with tightly rolled towels or Google for somewhere local that can supply mattress foam type stuff and get a bit the right size.

I've never seen it done but if you have to fill a gap, do it on the furthest side so your mattresses butt up together.
I'd be a bit worried about it though tbh

As above, make sure the mattresses are the same height, the the cot and the bed together, and shove the cot mattress over so it sits against your mattress, then wedge towels or blankets (tightly rolled up) down the far edge.
