From co-sleeping to own bed

Hi. My son has just turned 2. He's co-slept with me and my oh since he was a few weeks old. But i have decided it's time to move him into his own toddler bed in his room. Ive tried a few times to put him in his bed and it's hit and miss, sometimes he'll go to sleep straight away and other times just thinks its a big game and refuses to sleep. When he does go to sleep he's comes back in my bed after a few hours crying. He still has his bottle and the last few weeks he wakes multiple times a night for his bottle (he likes warm milk) but think this is more for comfort. Shall i take his bottle off him? He only has it for bed and nap time. Any tips on how to get him to sleep through the night in his own bed would be gratefully appreciated. S x

5yo DS1 still comes through during the night OP. We co-slept till 2ish then I tried getting him into his own bed: we had most success with a double mattress on his floor, which meant that we could stay with him until he drifted off. He mostly drifts off fine these days, we usually put a story CD on for him.

DS2 is nearly 2 and still in my bed. I need to night wean him!

I think taking away 2 sources of comfort cold turkey without replacing them is pretty harsh, to be honest. There needs to be a transition. So either you or your husband sleeps on a mattress in your son’s room with him until he’s used to sleeping there etc.
