would be interested in these?where are they?

BikeBug · 03/05/2007 09:29

Am thinking about it, but not sure about having a whopping great run of velcro all around the edge of the window! Imagine the noise when you take them down as well! Interested to know if anyone has bought them though as I have white (yes, I know, bought them pre-baby) curtains. Have been up between 5 and 5.30 every day for weeks now!

PinkChick · 03/05/2007 09:31

ah, i see what you mean, why dont you just get some sticky velcro, stick one side to wall and other to curtain/blind you already have?, yes a bit tatty on wall, but a few mins more sleep ?..its got to be worth it!

i wondered about getting these but wondered if they might make the room a bit hot in summer - i.e no point in having window open (assuming it is going to get hot...)???

hadn't thought of that pinkchick!

No help but can completely sympathise with crap existing blackout blinds. Am thinking of having the windows bricked up...

hairymclary · 03/05/2007 14:40

tin foil works wonders. just blue tack it round each window pane

I have made easyblinds for each of my 3 and they made a HUGE difference!! My little girl has very light curtains and it is still incredibly dark now in her room with the easyblind up! They don't make the room hot because they keep all of the sunlight out. I have to wake my youngest now in the morning.........never thought I would be able to say that. Go for it.

my dh still thinks our pfb (nearly 2) won't sleep unless in a completely dark room - so when we go away, he blutacs black bin liners to the windows - it's remarkably effective.

fizzylemonade · 07/05/2007 18:14

Another holiday tip- peg a blanket to existing curtains!!! We have black out blind -Ikea cheap as chips and black out ready made lining from Great Little Trading Company on the back of ready made curtains from B&Q. They are the BEST black out liners I have ever come across.

Have moved the boys to different rooms and moved house so have tried many a black out blind/curtain etc

Think you can add a pelmet or make sure that any curtains massively overlap the sides of the window instead of the usual 15cm or 6" recommended overlap to help reduce the light. Both my boys are summer babies so went whole hog with blackout thing, I love sleeping in the pitch black, it actually makes you release some kind of chemical that induces sleep - leftover from our cave days.

I had these and they were brilliant - but a complete pain to scrub the velcro off the uPVC window frames when we left our rented house. I didn't actually take them down every day - I would leave them stuck at the top edge and just undo the bottom/sides, then kind of fold them back up on themselves, so the blind covered only the top 1/3rd of the window during the day

chocolatte · 09/05/2007 16:22

hi, iv got these and can recommend them. i dont take them down very often as its a big window so would be too tricky to get them back on again. . i fold down one panel a little to wake her up gently. great for daytime naps!

hockeypuck · 09/05/2007 16:26

Has anyone got a link for them?
