White noise volume

Hi guys,
I have been using sound sleeper on an old iPhone and placing it in the Moses basket. (It's not in reach of my 4 week old). I read an alarming article which states that loud constant white noise can cause hearing problems. I have it on a couple of notches below maximum. I bought a decibel meter app on my phone and I measured the decibels and it came to 70. John Hopkins university says that any constant volume more than 80 decibels could cause hearing problems in infants. I know 70 is less than 80 but I have it playing all night.
Btw, my voice volume is 70 decibels too and the average conversation volume is 60-70 decibels. I don't think it would be effective to have it any quieter. it doesn't sound that loud. What are people's thoughts and experiences with white noise apps / machines / toys and what volume have you got them at? Anyone else worried about hearing damage? Am I being a nervous nelly?

You are being a nervous nelly :) but understandably so as I was too. I can’t remmeber where I read it (sorry not helpful!) but the sound of your body and heartbeat is really loud for baby so actually loud white noise is fine x
