Settling after feeds

My nearly 4 month old LG has been feeding every 2 hours-ish at night for about the last month - while it's quite frequent, I could live with this if she would settle afterwards. As it is, we get 10-15 mins of feeding and then at least 30-40 mins of fidgeting, squeaking, chatting, flailing around and generally being impossible to settle. She sometimes seems a bit windy, but rarely in real distress - she never cries at these times. Anyone have any tips for getting her to settle quicker? She is in a 3-sided crib against the bed and while I've given in a few times I really do not want her in my bed. An hour at a time at night is not cutting it though, I'm desperate for sleep!

Oddly, she goes down beautifully at bedtime, often self-settling from the point of wide awake when I leave her in the crib on her own, so why can't she do it in the night under similar conditions?! Confused

My lo is 3 months and I find I have to cuddle and pat him for about 15 minutes after a feed during the night so he's a bit more drowsy and then I pop him back in his crib. He has now started cooing and gurgling for a further 15 minutes or so but I just leave him as he's not unhappy. It does keep me awake but at least I'm lying down and getting a rest.

I have this with my 5mo DS. Having milk at night sometimes seems to give him so much energy that he is full of beans! 6 times out of 10 it seems a good burp settles him.
