What schedule is your 18 month old on?

Just curious what the daytime routine is like for others with an 18 month old.
I am trying to stick to something like this for my DS:
6-6:30am - awake
7am - breakfast
11-11:30am - lunch
12-12:30pm - nap for 1 1/2 -2 hours
3:00-3:30pm - snack
5:30-6:00pm - dinner
7:00-7:30pm - bedtime

I think this is reasonable and I've stuck to it for about 2 weeks. He stills seems so tired all the time so I'm not sure if it just takes longer to adjust to a new sleep routine or if I should "tweak" his naptime/bedtime a bit.

My 19 month ols sons routine is almost exactley the same. He does et really sleepy at 4ish but I just do anything to keep him going (a walk with the dog etc. I never give him longer than an hour and a half nap even if it means waking him up otherwise he will not sleep at night.

My twin charges are 18 months next week and here's our day:

7am (ish) wake up, 8oz milk
8am breakfast
1030am small snack and drink
noon lunch
1pm naptime for 2-3 hours
330pm (ish) snack and drink
530pm dinner
630pm bath
7pm 6oz milk followed by cuddles, stories and bed
730pm silence!!!!!!!!!

I really recommend a book by Dr Mark Weissbluth called Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. He has a great way of explaining what sleep children need as they grow, and his suggestions work a treat. If your DS is still tired all the time, his book suggests putting your child to bed 30 mins earlier than usual, as overtiredness can lead to an inability to get enough sleep (ironically). When we changed from 2 naps a day to one nap a day it took a couple of weeks of putting the twins down at 615pm ish instead of 7pm for their bodies to adapt to the new routine and now they nap like little angels for at least 2 but usually 3 hours a day, and they go to bed and are asleep from 730pm at the latest til 7am. Some days they have napped for 3.5hrs, then slept from 730pm til 845am!!!! They are good sleepers, and seem to know that sleep is good for them while they are growing. Other days they have no nap, but are in bed by 630pm and sleep right through. But on the whole they stick to their routine and they are happy (as are we!!!).

my 16 month old is on virtually the same routine, but lucnh is at 12 and nap is about 12.45 for 1.5 hrs (usually) rarely naps longer than that. In bed by 7.30, wakes most days at 6.30. He is sleepy some days and occasionally I will persuade him down for a quick nap in the morning (at 10ish) though that is getting fwer and further between now. I give DS some dried fruit if he looks tired, sometimes its low blood sugar

Thanks for the feedback. Seems I'm not too far off track. I tend to be sensitive to other people's comments that he naps rather early for a child his age (then again, he does wake up earlier than most of those kids). Maybe I need to be more patient and stick to the same schedule for a month or so, then as he gets older, he may last a little longer for a nap at about 1pm. I tend to agree with you, suejonez -- sometimes he's sluggish because he needs a snack so I'll keep that in mind.
