What is wrong?

My 8 month old DS has always settled well at bedtime and slept for 6-8 hours before another feed. Last few days he’s been waking up every half hour - hour crying hysterically to the point where I’ve had to see to him a few times before I’ve even gone to bed. We’ve ended up co-sleeping and even then he only sleeps when I’m cuddled up right next to him.

What could be wrong with him. He definitely isn’t himself recently - he has a little eye infection too. But when I pick him up, he stops crying straight away so don’t think he’s crying in pain.

Is this the start of separation anxiety? Or nightmares? Please tell me it’s just a phase. I don’t want to get into the habit of bringing him into our bed - we’ve only just got him sleeping in his own room.

My 8 month old has been doing this after previously sleeping until the early hours and sometimes sleeping through it suddenly changed just as she turned 8 months.
I read online about an 8-10 sleep regression so I’m really hoping it’s that.
I started giving DD a dummy and I’m tryinh to encourage her to settle herself so if she’s really crying I’ll go in and give her the dummy and leave the room to see if she goes back to sleep which is starting to get a bit more successful. I was bringing her into our bed but I don’t really want to be doing that so I’m trying to resist the temptation

Teething?

It’s so hard when to know to go see them. Leave them too long and they’ve probably woken themselves up enough to not go back to sleep easy. Go in too early and they don’t settle themselves.
