Teething and feeding back to sleep

4.5 month old DD used to be a good sleeper (1 wake up to feed), is now teething and all gone to pot.
I BF to sleep but she's now waking every 40mins and will not settle unless on me. I've given Anbesol for her gums, she's not screaming in pain so reluctant to get the calpol out. Is this 'every half hour/40mins' teeth or inability to fall back to sleep without boob?

She can nap without needing boob (sing quick rhyme, into cot, leave and she goes to sleep) but nightime...I'm up for hours.

I've tried not rushing in but her cries get louder then she wakes herself up even more. When she does 'feed' on me it's a min and she's dozing so it is a sleep association. What do I do? I'm beyond exhausted!

You’ll probably find it’s a combo of both. She’s waking more a teeth are hurting but as you feed to sleep the only way she can fall back to sleep is with a feed from you. The timing of this at 4.5 Months you e prob got the 4 month sleep regression mixed in too. Try to break the feed to sleep cycle a bit - you don’t have to entirely but LO needs to learn some good sleep habits a bit like you have in the day.

I think you're right, thought the 4 month sleep regression would affect naps but they haven't really (then again she's probably so tired from little sleep at night!)😴
I'll persevere with trying to put her down to sleep drowsy not asleep.

It’s tricky doing it when there teething, do what you can for now and when this tooth pair are through be a bit more assertion ve with the sleep training. The sleep regression is a permanent change in sleeping so it never goes back (I waited then read about it!!) so you’ll want to do something: it’s not easy but it will change

I don't know about sleep regression. If she was a good sleeper before this, I think she probably will be again once she gets through this. Crappy for you in the meantime though. Brew

PS, if you do bedtime baths, a friend told me her mum (a childminder) swore by putting a cammomile teabag in the bath to help relax them before bed. I used to do it, and I think it helped (could've been a placebo to make me think I was doing something, but who cares if it works!!)

April45 I read similar to what you describe after posting this and thought 'what?!', I have a 2 year old and did sleep training with him so know I will have to do it but he was a worse sleeper than she 'was'.
Hope you're right crocodarl and she's sleep well again. I guess I'll persevere (sat feeding to sleep again as I type!
LOVE the teabag suggestion! Trying that tomorrow for both munchkins!
