Nap time?

I have a 9 month old and iv never really put her down for nap time, but I have started to just for the sake I can get some stuff done around the house, what time would you say is the best time for nap time. She is an excellent sleeper, she sleeps 12 hours a night without waking up but I would like her to get in the habit of having a day time nap. I just would like to know what time do people usually put their baby's down for a nap and how long for. Thanks.

Most people I know aim for their babies to have a long lunchtime nap. Make sure DD is well fed and calm and try putting her down at midday ish maybe?

My 8 month DD sleeps 12 hours at night, has a half hour nap around 9am, then a longer nap (1.5hrs) around lunchtime.

Iv have just put her down now and she took about 15 mins to settle she wasn't crying just babbling to her self now she is asleep. I'm thinking of leaving her for about an hour or should I just let her sleep till she wakes up. I don't want to disturb her sleep pattern at night

That's brilliant! My DD puts up a fight Grin

I would avoid the temptation to actively wake her as if you get her at the wrong point in a sleep cycle she won't be impressed with being woken! Once my DD has been asleep 1.5 hours I just go and start putting clothes away in the bedroom or whatever to encourage her to wake up gently when she's ready.

From what I've read on sleep, a good daytime nap won't interfere with overnight sleeping...

Ok that's great! Thank you for the advice. It's really helped! Grin
