4 month old suddenly crying hysterically before bed!

Hello I'm new to this!

First time mummy, to a gorgeous 4 month old girl. Up until the last week my little girl used to go down in her cot well at around 6pm. Awake but sleepy and I would sit near her till she feel asleep and then leave the room. (Did this because would not sleep if I left and cried till I came back). For the last week we have done everything exactly the same, nothing in her routine has changed apart from she is taking shorter naps in the day (usually 4 30 mins, which I think is enough for her as she wakes up happy) the past week she becomes very unsettled at night on the lead up to bed time routine as if she knows! Same routine followed bath, massage, bottle and bed. However she now cries hysterically as soon as we walk into the bedroom when she isn't even in the cot yet :( I have tried picking her up and cuddling her to settle (I don't really like the controlled crying, shh and pat etc as I think she's too little at the mo) however she will only stop crying if I walk her back out the room again and have a cuddle on the landing. I don't know what else to try or do you think this is just a phase. I hate seeing her get herself in this state! Have tried night lights on and off, white noise, a small teddy for comfort, dummy you name it ive done it. I normally just end up lying on my bed ( her cots by my bed) with her all evening till she's asleep and then o usually end up drifting off myself.

Just would like some tips to settle please! Smile

Perhaps teething? Try some teething gel.
My 7mo went through a phase of this - it was horrible. Luckily it was short-lived!

Yes me and my OH did think this! He have tried bonjela little monkey just licks it all off but we manage to get some on her gums! In the day We would usually distract her if she seems in pain but don't want to do that at night as too stimulating.

Hopefully just a phase and will just ride it out! Thank you Smile
