To attempt to wean off dummy or not...?

Seriously having one of those days today. DD goes to sleep with a dummy but is waking several times a night. This morning I decided that I’d try and start weaning her off the dummy to see if that would help with the wakings.
First nap was amazing, straight to sleep without it. Afternoon nap has been a nightmare. I put her down at 12.45 without her dummy. She proceeded to cry, roll around her cot and attempt to sit up over and over. After 45 minutes I gave in and gave her her dummy. She carried on with the rolling and sitting and I continued to go in to settle her. Popped her dummy in for one last time. When I got downstairs and looked at the monitor, she’d spit her dummy out but was settling off to sleep!!!! Ahhhhhh!!
Normally she settles quite well with her dummy. I don’t know whether to attempt to wean her off her dummy or to just try a Sleepytot and see if she can learn to put her dummy back in herself if it’s attached to a comforter. She has a comforter now which she likes near or even over her face.

In that case no I definitely wouldn't wean of the dummy at that age .
Dummy runs do get better when they can put pen dummy back in

Give her the dummy during the day in her hands. Let her play around with it and learn to put it back in. Then attach it to the comforter and do the same thing. I bought a JoJo elephant dummy holder (similar to the Sleepytot) but it was too heavy and kept pulling the dummy out so in the end I sewed two small squares of velcro to the corner of a muslin and it gets attached to that instead!

Thanks for the responses. The dummy is definitely staying. It soothes her and she's still so young. Today's afternoon nap was made stressful, when it didn't need to be at all, by my attempt to remove her dummy.
I'll definitely let her have a play with her dummy during the day. At the moment she knows it goes in her mouth, but she's trying to put it in the wrong way round. I wish I'd gone with the velcro and muslin idea now. I'll give that a go if the Sleepytot doesn't work out - thanks!
