I thought this was well written and sweet. However, it doesn’t fit my experience as we always regarded the feed at that time of the morning - be it 4:30 or 6:00 - as another night feed and felt the darkness outside helped make that work.

Maybe we just had a baby who slept a lot - day and night.

I have two January children and did the same as you....night time was 7pm-7am and we treated it as such. Both good sleepers Smile (or they were until they hit about 4 years old haha).

It’s the cold which gets me. Having downstairs to get a bottle. Feeding him out of bed so I don’t wake my DH.

And for my first it rained and rained which made going out miserable.

I think it's just Twixtmas week filler. "We need some content for the slow news week!" "Okay, I'll write something about ow my heating doesn't come on till 6am and dark mornings are dark".

I had a March baby and, whilst it was nice and sunny in the mornings, I sometimes wished it was darker, as I found it difficult to get back to sleep when it was light. I liked the article but thought the heating thing was a bit silly, just put it on earlier! (Presumably she could afford to). I did agree with the bit about having a newborn outside in the park. I felt much better outside even when tired. I also was regularly walking the streets at 5pm for DD to nap. My friend with an Oct baby struggled with having to walk the streets in the cold and sometimes dark. In the winter it can seem a long time from when it gets dark at 4ish until your partner gets home from work but you don't really want to go out. I think it depends on the type of person you are though. I get cooped up easily but I'm sure others love the cosy hibernation feel of being cocooned at home with your newborn.
