First cot sleep

Hi all.
My first baby is 10 weeks old. She has not slept in her moses basket yet . ...as whenever we used to put her down she would projectile sick and be in pain. Me and my husband have taken it in turns to sit up with her at night and she sleeps on our chests. Her projectile sick is a lot better .... the health visitor and doctor think she may have milk allergy which is why she seems to have pain etc.... we have hosp appt in January for tests for this.

Anyways ... we want to try and put her in her cot bed ... our room is too small to have anything but her moses basket in ... and she has nearly outgrown this already ... so she will have to go straight in her own cot bed.

How should we go about doing this .. .? Should I aim to leave her for certain time the first night and then gradually increase or leave her until she sleeps..? ... How long should I leave her for if she cries ?

Thanks

Obviously it’s down to personal choice but I wouldn’t be leaving a 10 week old to cry, they are far to Little for any sort of sleep training. If you suspect a milk allergy it can make baby unsettled because their tummies are in pain. Are you breast or bottle feeding. My DS has CMPA so I know a lot about it.

If you want to try the cot, you could try swaddling with loud white noise, this along with a sleepyhead worked for my wee guy. However some babies just need the comfort of mummy and daddy in the early days. It won’t last forever

10 weeks is far too young for any sort of sleep training, especially for a baby with allergies.

Is there def not room for a travel cot in your room? We bridged 3-5 months with one.

Well at 10 weeks old the likelihood is that is they are crying because they need feeding/comfort.

Controlled crying is controversial at the best of times but most people who do try it wait until babies are a lot older.

That's even without going into all of the research that indicates that the risks of sudden infant death are reduced by sleeping in the same room as the baby until they are at least six months old.

It is much safer for cot death if they sleep in the same room as you. If you put them in a different room set up a reverse monitor so they can still hear you move around (to stop them falling into too deep a sleep).

Thanks all. I have found a cot that stands next to our bed online ... so will measure up after Xmas and fingers crossed there may be just enough room so we can get out the door.
